Patient Transfer Devices
When caring for a patient, there are tons of mobility issues that need to be addressed. While there are various patient care products to help you with this issue, like wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and crutches, still, there are gaps that people tend to overlook. For one, transferring a patient from a wheelchair to a bed and vice versa may seem simple, but it’s not. Accidents that happen when making transfers are not uncommon.
Luckily, now we have patient transfer devices that help you with this kind of issue. In this section, we’ll discuss the benefits of having a patient transfer device at home, as well as the best patient transfer devices that you can buy here in Mobility Paradise.
How a Patient Transfer Device Works
A patient transfer device is a piece of assistive medical equipment for lifting patients from various platforms like a bed to a chair and the other way around. This kind of patient care product is highly beneficial for both the patient and caregiver since it allows them to be safe during in-between transfers for places of rest.
Essentially, patient transfer devices help when you have reduced mobility and need to move more quickly to and from a wheelchair, chair, bed, tub, or toilet.
Benefits of a Patient Transfer Device
Patient transfer devices offer tons of benefits for both the patient and the caregiver. However, these are the top benefits that you can expect from a patient transfer device:
- It protects the caregiver from carrying too much weight and pressure.
- It secures the position of the patient who is being transferred.
- It requires minimal effort on the part of both the patient and the caregiver.
- It provides the patient with better independence.
Choosing the Right Patient Transfer Device
Since you already understand the importance and benefits of having a patient transfer device, you must know the main to consider, including the following:
In buying the best patient transfer device, it’s essential that it can fully support the patient’s weight. Besides, choosing the wrong fit for the size of the patient may cause more accidents than protection.
Each patient transfer device comes in different shapes and sizes. For one, a sit-to-sit transfer type may just require a transfer board instead of a sit-to-stand transfer type, in which a transfer belt or sling may be beneficial. So, if you figure out the specific transfer type that you find most challenging, then perhaps getting a patient transfer device to aid in such transfer will bring tons of benefits.

My husband is getting good use of this product. It relaxes him and helps him with preventing soars.Best thing I could have bought him.
I ordered this for my Dad while he was on hospice and placed it on top of his hospitable bed, under the fitted sheet. It took a few minutes to completely fill up and was very firm so and had to slowly adjust it to his comfort. He said it was much more comfortable and he slept/laid on it until he lost his battle with cancer.
I have severe pain in my spine so I need something to lay on when I go to bed that will allow me to relax and sleep. I have tried one other air mattress that did not help me as this one does.
We got this for our patient. She said she loves it. She’s been bed bound for 2 yrs. just what she needed.
Very solid product. Comfortable and easy to use!
Got it for my Uncle who is on hospice and bedridden. He complains all the time about the discomfort of being in one position all the time. This airflow bed really works! When asked if it’s comfortable his response is “l don’t know” but we have not needed to shift his position constantly since we started using this. It’s also super quiet, you can’t hear the pump run at all. The only sound is some soft hissing as the air exchange happens. Even if this only lasts a week, it’s totally worth it. After I put it on the bed one of the hospice nurses told me they would have provided us with one if we had asked. This is probably the best $$$+ taxes I’ve ever spent. If you have someone on bed rest, don’t hesitate, just buy it!
Just the right thickness.
Very Quiet and Comfortable.
My wife is quadriplegic for 20 Years. I have gone through many of these - ranging from $80-$900 and this one is the only one my wife has praised as her favorite.
My friend is paralyzed and gets bed sores. Hoping this will help him. So far so good.
I like that it is thick and easy to clean!
Works very well there are no complaints or recommendations!
