Yes, it's plastic - but sturdy!

This is a great little "must-have" for chairs and sofas, especially when space is tight! My husband liked it so much he wants another for the sofa. I use it on my recliner with wide arms. The loveseat arm is very narrow. It doesn't matter with this because there are good quality springs on the folding clips that attach it.
There's lots of room for beverages and remotes, etc. My iPad Mini2 fits with the room left for a beverage or remote. Love it!

I am very happy with these!

I wish these came in stock more! I didn’t want tables to knock into in a house with rambunctious kids. So I figured these would be helpful. They are a godsend! They match my dark brown couch perfectly and they are very sturdy. The clip is super strong (and loud if you pull the tray table up without holding onto the legs) I love them! I do not mind that they are plastic at all. I am very happy with these!

Works on multiple types of furniture

Perfect for both our thick couch arm and slender chair arm. It isn’t as stable as an actual end table, but to be able to place my drink next to me is awesome.
